Carl Yuan Wins 1st Event on The Korn Ferry Tour!→

BROUSSARD, Louisiana – After four runner-up finishes, and after delaying a chance to earn a PGA TOUR card in order to represent China at the Olympic Men’s Golf Competition last year in Tokyo, Carl Yuan defeated Peter Uihlein on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff for a breakthrough victory at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open presented by MISTRAS.

Yuan fired a 6-under 65, one of seven scores of 65 or better Sunday, and matched Uihlein at 14-under par for the week. Yuan birdied the first playoff hole, the par-4 18th, hitting a wedge 12 feet past the hole and draining the putt. Uihlein hit a wedge 6 feet short of the hole but missed his playoff-extending birdie putt.

“I knew like I had to make mine,” Yuan said. “My coach and I worked on a couple things last two weeks just having the confidence over a putt. No matter a 3‑footer or a 40‑footer, I have the same confidence of making it. And I have practiced (a) putt like this hundreds of times when I practice. Definitely dream about having a putt to win a tournament like this, playoff or (on) No. 18.”

The victory also marked an early (or perfectly timed in his native China) birthday present, as Yuan turns 25 years old Monday.

One week before she left for Royal Troon in August, Reid spoke with sports psychologist Howard Falco for the first time. She immediately felt comfortable with Falco, and opened up deep-rooted wounds she’d been reluctant to address.

Understanding her self-worth was at the heart of it.

“I think that has been a big issue for me,” she said, “whether I deserve stuff.”

So many events that have built up over time, Reid says, come pouring out now with Falco. They talk before and after every round. She needs someone to push her like that. Those who are close can already tell a difference in her mannerisms and state of mind.

Mel Reid Discusses her Victory and Our Work on Mental Strength

Reid credits the turnaround in fortunes to Howard Falco, her mental strength coach. Shortly before the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Troon in August she asked her agent if there were any psychologists with whom she could work, as she was “sick and tired of playing shit”.

A shortlist of names was returned and Reid was drawn to Falco, a self-empowerment expert from Chicago. They speak on the phone on Wednesdays — the day before a tournament — and then after each round. When they spoke on Sunday, Reid thanked Falco for changing her life. “He’s on to me, which I need because I get very complacent,” Reid says. “He doesn’t let me take anything [for granted].”

Carl Yuan Finishes 3rd in the Australian PGA Championship

Client Carl Yuan had one of his best finishes of the year as the 22 year old took 3rd behind champ Adam Scott in the Australian PGA championship. The young rising Chinese star led after the second round and played very solid over the weekend to finish 3rd.

Megan Henry makes her first World Cup team for USA Skeleton→

Andrew Blaser and Megan Henry are headed to USA Skeleton's World Cup roster for the first time, after both put together winning performances in the national team-trials series that ended Sunday.

Blaser swept the four-race men's series, and Henry went 2 for 2 this weekend to earn her spot on the roster. Alex Ivanov got the other men's berth, and Savannah Graybill took the remaining women's at-large spot.

Henry needed a pair of wins in the final races this weekend to get onto the squad.

Gavin Aurilia wins Division 2 State Championship by 4 shots

Sixteen Year old Junior Gavin Aurilia Shot rounds of 69 - 71 to win the Division II State championship by 4 shots. The tournament was held in Tucson at the Omni Tucson National’s Catalina course. Gavin is verbally committed to play golf at USC after he graduates in 2021.

Client Jameson Vest Breaks Toledo Record For Field Goals Made in a Career

Toledo Kicker Jameson Vest kicked a 29 yard field goal in the win against Ball State to break a 30 year old record and became the all-time leading kicker for field goals made in a career with 69. Jameson has been working hard both physically and mentally for the last four years as a starter for Toledo Football.

Client Charlie Reiter Wins & Earns Invite to Play in 2017 Australian Open

Client Charlie Reiter, shot rounds of 66-67-68-71 for a -16 total and an 8 stroke victory last weekend in the Aaron Baddeley International Junior Championship in California. Charlie took the lead in the first round and never looked back. The win earned the 17 year old an invite to play in the 2017 Australian Open Golf Tournament.
